Opening Aiglon

Opening Aiglon

After much consideration of how to best serve the wellbeing and learning of our global community, we are pleased to present details for opening through to August.

Plan overview
Remote Learning continues until the end of the summer term.
Provisions for supervised on-campus remote learning for Years 5-10.
We look forward to seeing our returning students again in August!

1. Remote learning
Aiglon will continue Remote Learning for all students until the end of the summer term (Friday, 19 June). We believe that this offers the most stability and continuity of learning for our families, students and staff. This will likewise allow the School to focus its attention on opening safely for all students again at the end of August.

You can read more about our Remote Learning programme here.

2. 11th May opening
To provide additional support to families who can access campus, limited provisions will be put in place for supervised remote learning each morning from Monday, 11 May. Students in Years 5 – 10 will be able to come to campus and participate in their remote classes with staff supervision. These supervised sessions will follow all the security measures put in place by the Swiss health authorities. (Photos on the left are from Monday, our first day!)

3. Ready for next year
We are looking forward to next year! This global pandemic has fundamentally disrupted our way of life and our aspirations of what it means to be a boarding school. However, as a community we refuse to be discouraged. We believe that our plans present a hopeful and realistic path forward as Switzerland begins to ease restrictions.

New families continue to affirm their decision to choose Aiglon, and we are looking forward to opening day to welcome our new and returning students.

4. Here to help: questions?
Security measures:
Already for our 11th May opening, Aiglon is working to implement increased security and health standards for all staff and students in line with the Swiss authorities. This includes:

Mandatory, daily temperature checks
Hand-washing before school, and regularly during the day
Limited class sizes
Maintaining 2 metre security distancing
Masks are not compulsory, but may be worn and can be provided
Increased cleaning and sanitisation regiments in frequented spaces

Visas:
New families have been wondering about visas in Switzerland. From 15 June, the Swiss authorities will begin processing new visas. While it is important not to delay, we are optimistic that our families will be able to arrive as planned in August. You can write to admissions@aiglon.ch if you have any specific questions
