TASIS Summer Programs Once Again Open With Record Number of Students

The 2024 TASIS Summer Programs in Lugano, Switzerland, started with Opening Day on Sunday, June 23, with a total of 432 students in four different divisions—Minnows, ages 4–6; Le Château des Enfants (CDE), ages 7–10; the Middle School Program (MSP), ages 11–13; and the High School Program (HSP), ages 14–17—arriving throughout the day.

The first session of the Summer Programs will run from June 23–July 18, and another 438 students will come to campus for session two, which starts on July 21 and concludes on August 10. The total of 870 students (from 69 different nations) breaks an enrollment record that was set just one year ago!

The evening before Opening Day, directors, teachers, counselors, and their families gathered on the Villa De Nobili terrace for a delicious dinner and the beloved Staff Talent Show. Guided by the Dedicated Performing Arts Team (DPAT), summer staff members showcased their impressive talents. Highlights can be viewed in the clip above.

Students in all three programs began their academic classes on Monday morning. This year’s academic offerings for sessions one and/or two include English as an Additional Language, French, Academic Writing, STEAM, Digital Photography, Filmmaking, Architecture & Design, Fine Art Portfolio, Fashion & Textile Design, La Cucina Italiana, Next Stop: Broadway!, Lean Startup Masterclass, and Introduction to Investment for HSP; English as an Additional Language, French, Italian, Creative Writing, STEAM, Digital Photography, and Musical Theater for MSP; and English as an Additional Language, French, or Italian for CDE and Minnows.

Afternoons are generally reserved for activity tracks—including Milan Academy Scuola Calcio, basketball, tennis, golf, volleyball, CrossFit, rock climbing, dance, yoga, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, wakeboarding, windsurfing, sailing, hiking, and swimming—while most evenings are spent enjoying structured activities with friends.

Students in HSP and MSP will also have many opportunities throughout the summer to explore Switzerland and beyond through a robust offering of day and overnight trips to exciting destinations such as Andermatt, Florence, the Italian Riviera, Milan, Nice, Venice, Verona, Zermatt, and Zurich. Students in CDE will explore the castles of Bellinzona, relax at beautiful Valle Verzasca, and spend two nights camping in picturesque Novaggio.

Each session will end with a fantastic Summer Arts Festival that includes performances of original musicals for CDE, MSP, and HSP; a visual arts exhibition; talent shows; and final night celebrations.
