Aiglon College is pleased to announce the initial International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) results for the Class of 2024.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are proud to announce the results of the IB Diploma results for the 2023-2024 academic year. 66 students achieved this academic milestone. Their hard work and dedication throughout this journey have culminated in this achievement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cohort achieved an average score of 36.1 out of 45 possible points (updated to 36.2 after remarks)<\/em>. The global average has been announced at 30.32. 100% of the 66 students entered for the IB Diploma passed, and 88% achieved 30 or more points. Impressively, 29% of the cohort achieved 40 points or more, with 3 students achieving 44 and 1 student achieving 45 (updated after remarks<\/em>). Reflecting the diverse nature of our class, we are particularly pleased that over 18% achieved the bilingual diploma. The average subject grade was 5.7 out of 7 possible points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Class of 2024 should be proud of their accomplishment,\u201c states Laura Hamilton, Aiglon\u2019s Assistant Head – IBDP Coordinator. \u201cThe IB Diploma is a rigorous two-year curriculum leading to a qualification that is widely recognised by the world\u2019s leading universities. The success we have seen in this year\u2019s cohort sets them on a path for future success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students in their final two years at Aiglon (Inspiration Years,<\/a> 12 – 13) undertake the academically challenging and holistic IB Diploma. This internationally recognised qualification is the perfect bridge to further university studies, as well as to prepare students for the opportunities and challenges of the modern world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognition from the Aiglon Leadership team <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Aiglon College Class of 2024 deserves a tremendous amount of credit for their accomplishments in the rigorous IB Diploma\u201d stated Nicola Sparrow, School Director. \u201cThe IB fosters critical thinking, creativity, and the ability to apply knowledge in real-world contexts.  These are precisely the skills that will prepare them to thrive in their future endeavours.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academic rigour aside, students studying for the IB Diploma also participate in Aiglon\u2019s range of character education programmes such as outdoor expeditions, sports and a range of activities. For an Aiglon student, the final IB score is merely one aspect of a larger educational journey, that for some students began even in Aiglon\u2019s junior school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen students join the Aiglon community, even from a young age, they embark on a journey of personal growth. Each day they explore new opportunities and learn to be resilient and kind,\u201d Ms Hamilton said. \u201cAt Aiglon, students are taught by example. Kindness is vitally important; it\u2019s probably the most important human characteristic.\u201d She continued, \u201cIn Years 12-13 the students are empowered to be independent learners, who can also rely on a vast support network. Our understanding of physical and mental well being is central to Aiglon\u2019s ethos of holistic learning and balanced development of mind, body and spirit.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on behalf of Aiglon\u2019s Board of Directors, Chairman Alessandro Corsini (Delaware,1975), offered his congratulations to the Class of 2024. \u201cIt is a proud moment for all students and their families to celebrate the accomplishment of this chapter of their lives. I would like to extend a warm congratulations on behalf of both the Governing Board, as well as the Aiglon alumni community.\u201d He continued, \u201cThe curriculum is designed to promote a profound sense of intercultural understanding, preparing students to be successful in an interconnected world. The students devoted themselves to their studies, whilst also expanding their horizons through expeditions, sports activities, community service among many other activities. The Class of 2024 should be proud of their accomplishment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Corsini also thanked the Aiglon staff for the excellence of their teaching, guidance and safeguarding. \u201cAiglonians are provided with a mutually respectful environment to learn and flourish. The staff are role models who consistently promote Aiglon\u2019s educational ethos and provide the students with a cooperative, amicable and safe learning environment. The Board would like to offer its appreciation to the staff who provide the students with opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of the world around us, our place within it and our responsibilities toward it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Onward journey to university and gap year <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe IB diplomas are valued by respected universities around the world, offering graduates the flexibility to pursue higher education in top tier global education institutions,\u201d stated Patience Fanella-Koch, Director University Advising. \u201cThe entire Aiglon community works in unison<\/a> to mentor and guide students through IB course selection, career research, and the university search and application process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Aiglon Class of 2024 celebrated acceptances and offers to universities and programmes around the world. The vast majority of the class met the conditional offers of admission to their top-choice universities. 42% are going to the United States, 28% are going to the United Kingdom, 24% are going to other universities worldwide, and 6% are pursuing a gap year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Structure of the IB Diploma Programme <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

IB assessments are a combination of internal assessments (conducted by teachers) and external assessments (marked by external examiners). The grading scale ranges from 1 to 7, with 7 being the highest. The Diploma is awarded to students who gain at least 24 points across six subjects (three studies at a higher level and three standard level) as well as satisfactory participation in the three core elements: Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Particular highlights of the year included the IB showcase event where students were able to present their areas of interest to an audience of their peers and parents. Notable EE titles this year featured inquiries such as: How does mathematical modelling contribute to our understanding of the dynamics of the Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo from July 2018 to August 2020? And, To what extent can the ongoing Syrian Civil War be attributed to the lack of socioeconomic progress in the country?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global credibility of the IB Programme <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over fifty years ago, the International Baccalaureate Organisation was registered in Geneva, Switzerland. Embodying an ethos that chimed with Aiglon\u2019s founding values, in 2010, the school adopted the full two-year IB Diploma Programme for Years 12 and 13. The IB is taught in 143 countries. Aiglon is an authorised IB World School and currently ranks in the world’s top IB schools<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aiglon High School Diploma <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All graduates also receive the Aiglon High School Diploma, accredited by NEASC, opening up further academic opportunities around the world. This diploma recognises the uniqueness of Aiglon\u2019s programme alongside the rigour of the IB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
