Unforgettable learning journeys: Champittet secondary students embark on Cultural Trips across Europe

In September, our middle and high school students set off to explore urban hubs and rural landscapes across Switzerland and Europe. Our Cultural Trips are eagerly anticipated here at Collège Champittet, and our latest voyages for students in Grades 9 to 14 were an absolute blast!

Champittet students in each grade visited different destinations with a particular academic focus, such as history, economy, research methods, science and spirituality. These topics were complemented by new and exciting experiences, including world-class museums, city walks, cooking classes, escape games and even a submarine visit!

Across Europe, our students explored culture, art, philosophy and more in Paris, Lyon, Barcelona, The Hague and Munich. In Switzerland, different groups of students discovered the science centres of Zurich, historic St Gallen and scenic Flüeli-Ranft, where Niklaus von Flüe – Switzerland’s national saint – lived in the 15वां century. Our 9वां graders visited this last destination, diving into the heart of Swiss history and legend.

Speaking about this trip, Maria Zufferey, Dean 9th/10th Grades and FLE, said: “At an age when the construction of identity and the search for meaning become vital, reconnecting middle school students with the roots of history and mythology can only be beneficial. Placing them on the ‘ancestral ladder’ helps them to shape themselves through introspection – a link with what has gone before, but also to become aware of the courageous life paths of the peacemakers and founders of Switzerland.”

No matter the destination, our Cultural Trips brought our students memorable learning experiences and moments of reflection. Our students have returned with new information and ideas to share with their peers, and hungry for their next travel opportunity!
