With such beautiful landscapes and stunning mountains, it’s important that here at LAS, we encourage students to take care of the environment in which they live. Our beautiful ski slopes and clean air are only made possible by the sustainable measures we take to ensure we can enjoy our surroundings for years to come. For this reason, we are committed to educating our students about the importance of environmental awareness and action!
One of our teachers recently started a project in his class where students had to create a science campaign to raise awareness amongst their dormmates and encourage them to reduce their carbon footprint through small, impactful actions. Students in the class needed to educate them about climate change, the negative impacts of human activity, and how simple changes in daily habits can contribute to a healthier planet.
To do so, students were required to investigate human activities contributing to climate change, such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation, while exploring positive human actions like recycling and energy conservation. Understanding the issue ensures they are educating others with correct and relevant information. Students were required to focus on everyday actions like reducing water and electricity use, eating less meat and more plant-based meals, taking local buses or biking instead of taking taxis, using reusable products, and making an effort to recycle and compost, to name a few.
The campaigns were required to be centered around a key message, backed by data, and presented in a way that is easy to understand and relatable. Students created posters, social media posts, flyers, and more! We have been really impressed by the creativity and innovation our students demonstrated in conveying their messages. Check out this presentation और this presentation that students put together!
Through experiential projects like this science campaign, students not only learned about the impacts of climate change but also encouraged others to take action to reduce their carbon footprint. By educating their peers on small but impactful lifestyle changes, they’re helping to create a more sustainable future for our community. We are proud of the creativity and innovation shown in these campaigns and look forward to seeing the positive effects of their research in making a lasting environmental difference!
