Aiglon Summer School
Established in 1975, Aiglon College’s Summer School has been a hub of memorable experiences for thousands of international students. Our 2024 programme runs from 22 June to 26 July, welcoming 450 students from over 60 nationalities—a record number.
Why Aiglon College?
Founded by John Corlette in 1949, Aiglon blends the unique character of mountain life with a visionary approach to education. As a spirited, independent, and not-for-profit organisation, Aiglon focuses on the balanced development of mind, body, and spirit, creating an environment where students and teachers strive for academic excellence, physical challenge, and cultural learning.
Aiglon’s Guiding Principles
Aiglon’s philosophy, the Guiding Principles, revolves around the balanced development of mind, body, and spirit, integrated into the Summer School through:
- Mind: Ten morning course options, including English, Entrepreneurship, Science, and Sports Discovery, ensure every student finds something engaging.
- Body: A range of sports and outdoor activities, from team sports to mountain excursions, keeps students active and fit.
- Spirit: Two-day mountain excursions challenge and reward students, fostering personal growth in a picturesque Alpine setting.
Programmes for All Ages
Our Summer School offers three main programmes:
- Classic programme (ages 8-12)
- Eagle programme (ages 13-16)
- Kickoff programme (ages 10-15)
Students can choose to be residential or non-residential, staying for one to four weeks. The Summer School serves as a perfect taster for those considering full-time education at Aiglon or simply looking for a new perspective in a beautiful part of the world.
“The Aiglon Summer School provides a vibrant programme for students aged 8-16. They are immersed in boarding school life where they become part of the school and local community,” stated Fiona Tweedie, Director, Aiglon Summer School. “This is an opportunity for personal growth, gaining independence and forming friendships with students from many nationalities. Living on the mountain is a wonderful life experience.”
Innovations for 2024
This year, we are excited to introduce new courses:
- Kickoff (ages 10-15): In partnership with Manchester City Football Club (MCFC), this course combines athletic and academic development through the City Play Model.
- Art Explorer Course: Students learn about artists and create their own works inspired by the stunning Alpine scenery, using Aiglon’s state-of-the-art studio.
- Robotics and Coding Course: A hands-on course where students experiment with computer programming and technology.
